United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut would like to thank the following volunteers for their dedication to and leadership of our organization.

Board Chairman - James “Jim” Sicilian

James “Jim” Sicilian is a partner and co-chair of the Executive Committee at Day Pitney LLP, a nationally recognized law firm with offices in five states. He represents a broad range of business clients in trials and appeals of complex commercial disputes including, among others, intellectual property and antitrust matters. Sicilian has represented both plaintiffs and defendants—from multinational Fortune 500 corporations to closely held companies, and individuals—in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret disputes, antitrust, and unfair trade practices cases.

Sicilian received his Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Bucknell University and his Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he served as notes and comments editor for the Connecticut Law Review. He served as law clerk for The Honorable Thomas J. Meskill, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1981 to 1982. Sicilian has consistently ranked among The Best Lawyers in America since 2005, has been recognized as a leading litigator in the Chambers USA Guide to Leading Lawyers for Business consistently since 2003, and has been recognized as a Connecticut Super Lawyer each year since 2006.

Sicilian was chair of the 2005 United Way Community Campaign, which raised more than $27,000,000 to improve lives and change community conditions in the 40 towns of central and northeastern Connecticut. He serves on the board of directors of the University of Connecticut Law School Alumni Association. He is also a Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation James W. Cooper Fellows Program.
