We know that kids who are not on track in school when they’re in 4th grade are less likely to graduate from high school. But children who participate in after-school programs are 60% less likely to drop out of school.
What we’re doing: United Way is focusing on quality out-of-school programs that help youth improve their academic achievement. Your contributions to United Way Community Investment help to ensure that all children have a safe, stimulating place to learn and grow when they're not in school.
Results: In 2009, thanks to United Way supported after-school programs for youth, more than 1,900 youth improved their academic performance—or 83% of those served.
