Radio Show: Preparing Our Young People for Work

On the August 2011 edition of United Way's Community Connections radio show, aired live on Saturday, August 27, 2011, we learned how partnerships among businesses, nonprofits, schools and government are helping young people explore local career opportunities and set goals for a brighter future.  

Susan Dunn, president and CEO of United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, and Ray Dunaway of WTIC 1080-AM spoke with Jim Boucher, director of strategic development at Capital Workforce Partners; Tim Lefebvre, a university relations recruiter at Aetna who co-manages youth employment placement for the company; and Ashley Hernandez, a recent high school graduate who has completed two summer internships at Aetna through Capital Workforce Partners' Career Connections program.
