Suicide Awareness - This Saturday on WTIC 1080-AM

Suicide is on the rise in Connecticut – and for every victim of suicide, at least six people’s lives are intimately affected. But there are things we can do to help.

Please tune in Saturday, January 28, from 8 to 9 a.m. on WTIC 1080-AM for United Way Community Connections. On this month's episode, we’ll discuss why suicides are on the rise in our state and we’ll learn how we can decrease the risk of suicide for ourselves and those we care about. We’ll also learn the warning signs that someone needs help and examine ways we can be helpful to friends and family who are struggling with suicide or its aftermath.

Susan Dunn, president and CEO of United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, and show host Ray Dunaway will speak with Luisa Noujaim, director of the Institute for the Hispanic Family at Catholic Charities – Archdiocese of Hartford, and with Retta Vadnais, clinician manager at United Way 2-1-1, which handles suicide crisis calls in the state of Connecticut.

Please join us for an important discussion.
