Tune in Saturday: Returning Dollars to Hard-Working Families through Tax Season Volunteering

Tune in for United Way's Community Connections radio show on WTIC 1080-AM, on Saturday, February 26, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.!

This month’s topic: “Neighbor to Neighbor: Tax Season Volunteers Help Working Families Boost their Income”

Each year, millions of dollars in tax credit refunds go unclaimed by lower-income working families in our state – and many families pay to have their taxes done when free services are available. That’s why United Way, its partners and volunteers are committed to spreading the word about the Earned Income Tax Credit, or EITC, and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, also known as VITA.

On this edition of Community Connections, Paula Gilberto, senior vice president of United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, and Ray Dunaway will speak with Laura O’Keefe, manager of volunteer recruitment and training at Co-opportunity in Hartford, and with Luis Vera, a VITA volunteer in Hartford, about the impact of EITC and VITA on lower-income working families and their neighborhoods.

Join us to learn how tax season volunteers are helping lower-income working families make the most of their hard-earned dollars.
