Community Connections Podcast: Addressing and Preventing Suicide

Every 15 minutes, someone dies by suicide in this country. And for every victim of suicide, at least six people’s lives are intimately affected. But there are things we can do to help.

On this month's United Way Community Connections, aired live on WTIC 1080-AM, we learned how we can decrease the risk of suicide for ourselves and those we care about. We discovered the warning signs that someone needs help and examined ways we can help those who are struggling with suicide and behavioral health issues.

News Alert: Visit 2-1-1 for Information on Open Gas Stations, Pharmacies

A message from United Way of Connecticut, which runs the 2-1-1 call center:

United Way 2-1-1 has worked with a number of state agencies to post and regularly update information on emergency shelter and warming center openings, gas stations and pharmacies, and other information.

If you, or someone you know, would like to speak with someone, please dial the free United Way 2-1-1 helpline. A call specialist will provide you information on counseling services.
