Both individuals and groups may enter. The top 3 finalists as selected by our judges will be invited to share their special talent at the Best Of Awards ceremony n February 2012, where the audience will vote on their favorite. The winner/winners will receive a special prize.

HARTFORD—The 2011 United Way Community Campaign got off to a rockin’ start with a Battle of the Bands at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza Sept. 7 and the announcement of the $25.8 million campaign goal, while more than 1,000 people volunteered for the 20th Annual United Way Day of Caring.

Volunteers from 26 local workplaces completed 20 signature volunteer projects across central and northeastern Connecticut—including in Hartford, West Hartford, East Hartford, Enfield, New Britain and Avon—as part of United Way’s 20th annual Day of Caring.*

Bertram “Bert” Scott of Cigna to Chair 2011 United Way Community Campaign

Bertram “Bert” Scott, president of U.S. Commercial Markets at Cigna, will chair the 2011 United Way Community Campaign, which raises resources to improve education, financial stability and health and provide a safety net of services across 40 towns in central and northeastern Connecticut.

Hartford Resident Receives Courage Award

Hartford – Theresa Ireland, a Hartford resident, received the 2011 United Way Community Campaign Courage Award at a luncheon June 20 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Hartford.

The Courage Award is presented annually to an individual who has shown outstanding courage and perseverance in overcoming adversity, with help from a local program supported by contributions to United Way Community Investment through the United Way Community Campaign.

United Way Best Of Awards Winners Announced!

Congratulations to all of our Best Of Awards recipients for 2010! Everyone had a great time at the sold-out, red carpet Academy Awards themed gala at The Hartford Club on Thursday evening, co-hosted by Laurie Perez and Rachel Lutzker of Fox CT. These awards recognize organizations and individuals across central and northeastern Connecticut who have demonstrated outstanding effort and creativity in leading the 2010 United Way Community Campaign at their workplaces.
