Free “Lunch Bunch” Program Helps Enfield Lower-Income Families

A partnership of several local human service organizations, businesses and a municipal department is proud to announce the second annual “Lunch Bunch” free summer lunch program in Enfield.

The Lunch Bunch is open to all children 18 years of age and younger. Its goal is to provide nutritious lunches during the months when free and reduced price school lunches are not available, helping lower-income parents make the most of their limited budgets.

Summer Food Programs for Kids - Be an Advocate!

The Enfield Summer Food Service Program at Saint Patrick’s Parish – also known as The Lunch Bunch – received some great press from the Hartford Courant this Sunday. Columnist Susan Campbell visited the program in late July and made summer food programs the subject of her most recent column. It’s a great example of how we can use our voices to advocate for community change.

Governor Signs Bill to Help Children During Downturns

On Thursday, July 14, Governor Jodi Rell signed House Bill #5360, An Act Concerning Children in the Recession. The new law creates a broad, multi-agency team to respond to the special needs of children caught up in economic crises like the recent recession. Connecticut is the first state in the nation to establish such a comprehensive system for meeting the needs of children affected by economic crises.
