Women's Leadership Council a 'Slam Dunk' For the Community

Starting last year, United Way signed on to a sports branding sponsorship with UConn to create opportunities to expand our messaging to hundreds of thousands of people in our community. The agreement includes on-court recognition at one UConn women’s basketball game. We chose the Huskies’ Big East game against the University of South Florida Bulls to highlight the United Way Women’s Leadership Council.

Financial Empowerment Center opens at Alfred E. Burr School

HARTFORD — A partnership of local nonprofits and organizations—with support from Hartford Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Christina Kishimoto and Mayor Pedro E. Segarra, announced the opening of the Financial Empowerment Center at Alfred E. Burr School and celebrated the first anniversary of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council Nov. 22.
