United Way Day of Caring
United Way Day of Caring is celebrating its 20thanniversary in 2011 in a big way – and we invite you to join us!
On September 7, 2011, Day of Caring became a Year of Caring. Specially designed Days of Caring will be held throughout the year, focused on each of United Way’s interest areas—education, income and health, including a safety net of services.
United Way's Year of Caring projects offer many opportunities to make a difference in the communities where you live and work. Examples of past projects include reading with preschoolers, rejuvenating offices where people receive free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, and fixing wheelchair ramps.
Did you know that one hour of volunteer time is worth $27.27 to nonprofits in Connecticut? That means that on the 19th annual United Way Day of Caring, workplace volunteers gave $900,000 worth of time to local nonprofit organizations.
