The Women’s Leadership Council is working with school leaders and nonprofit partners to offer adult financial education services at the Family Financial Center at Alfred E. Burr School, a Community School in Hartford’s South End.
Community Schools act as community hubs, bringing essential resources and services to the neighborhood, including educational, cultural, health and social services. The work of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council and partners adds adult financial education programs to the array of services already offered at Alfred E. Burr School.
Services, which are available to parents and neighborhood residents, include credit and budget workshops, one-on-one financial coaching, matched savings programs, and referral services.
Our partners are:
- Alfred E. Burr School, one of the Hartford Community Schools
- Hartford Community Schools
- The Village for Families & Children
- Co-opportunity, Inc.
Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job; enough income to support a family through retirement; and good health. That’s why United Way’s work is focused on helping children and youth achieve their potential, promoting financial stability and independence and improving people’s health. We all win when we work together to create this kind of future for all of us.
United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council is an important component in this community change effort, particularly in promoting family financial stability.
